What is brazilian jiu-jitsu?

BJJ uses fundamental mechanics of human movement, frames and levers to subdue an opponent, leading to submissions such as joint locks and chokes. BJJ is practiced for fitness, self-defense, and as a popular competitive sport. Throughout the world, people of all ages, sizes and levels of fitness safely train in this challenging and rewarding combat martial art.

We have morning, evening and weekend adult and youth classes to suit your schedule!

Who's Teaching

Since opening Solarte BJJ in 2017, Jenn has offered a fun and engaged approach to teaching both adults and children. She is a brown belt under Rob Biernacki and Solarte BJJ is the premier U.S. affiliate of Rob’s academy, Island Top Team. Jenn has taught BJJ for over 10 years and trained in a number of martial arts before falling in love with Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. She is passionate about creating a quality training environment that is challenging, fun and supportive.

Brian is an Air Force veteran, lifelong martial artist and longtime instructor. He received his black belt from Eddie Bravo and Curtis Hembroff (owner of 10th Planet Austin, TX) in 2022 and was the co-head instructor of 10th Planet Oak Hill in Austin. Brian loves to teach, coach, and explore grappling. He considers it a gift and a blessing to be able to help his team, and is his mission to be the best coach he can be.
